Golden Veterans documentary to show at Commission meeting

(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY)  – The 23-minute documentary “Miami-Dade Golden Veterans: 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War” will be shown at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, June 3 at 11:45 a.m. at the Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st St.

County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Chairman of the Miami-Dade Military Affairs Board, is organizing the free screening of the documentary, which premiered last week at Littman Theater in North Miami Beach in honor of Military Appreciation Month.

Produced by Miami-Dade TV, the documentary includes interviews with local Vietnam veterans, who share their memories of the unfair treatment they received when they returned home from the war and their thoughts about Miami-Dade’s historic Nov. 8, 2013 parade through downtown Miami to give them the long-overdue proper homecoming they deserved.
