Commissioner Diaz to pump up Mater Academy’s football team before its big game against Westland Hialeah

(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY) – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, District 12, will attend a pep rally at Mater Academy ahead of the school’s homecoming football game against Westland Hialeah High.

The pep rally will take place on Wednesday, October 8 at 1 p.m. at the school, 7901 NW 103rd St., Hialeah Gardens, FL 33016.

Mater Academy will compete with Westland Hialeah High for the first-ever Commissioners Cup, sponsored by Commissioner Diaz, whose district includes Mater Academy, and Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr., who represents the district that includes Westland Hialeah High. In addition to the trophy, each commissioner also will donate $500 to his respective school’s athletic department. The showdown between the two teams will take place on October 9.
