Commissioner Diaz to participate in Heroes4Heroes Family Day Festival and Miami Tunnel 5K Run

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz will be participating in the Heroes4Heroes Family Day Festival and Miami Tunnel 5K Run/Walk & Climb to honor the fallen heroes of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Bayfront Park, 301 N. Biscayne Blvd.

The daylong event will begin at noon with a variety of activities for all ages, including a Kids Zone, beer garden, and a “Heroes 4 Strength” fundraising competition with a Crossfit Challenge course.

The U.S. Coast Guard will conduct a Search and Rescue demonstration at 3:30 p.m.

Opening ceremonies will take place at 4:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., shuttles will transport registered participants to the starting line outside the tunnel. The event will conclude with an award ceremony, including a special tribute to hometown heroes.

“This is an opportunity to pay tribute to all the heroic first responders and others who lost their lives on 9/11,” Commissioner Diaz said.

Those wishing to participate in the 5K Run/Walk & Climb portion must register at https://miamitunnel-heroes4heroes-2018.eventbrite.com.
