Chairman-elect Diaz and United States Marines shop for U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign

MIAMI-DADE – As part of the United States Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman-elect Jose “Pepe” Diaz, in partnership with the United States Marines and Walmart, will be shopping for Christmas toys for local needy children on Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Walmart Store 2091 in Doral, 8651 NW 13th Terrace, Doral, FL 33126.

Chairman-elect Diaz will be joined by several U.S. Marines and Walmart employees as they pick out thousands of toys to benefit children from several faith-based and community-based organizations whose parents cannot afford to buy toys. The toys will then be loaded onto a truck and transported to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center to be sorted, sanitized and prepared for distribution.

“Many parents are having a very hard time this Christmas season because of the pandemic, but we want to make sure every child still gets to enjoy a wonderful Christmas with their families, and that’s why the Toys for Tots campaign is so important,” Chairman-elect Diaz said.

Toys for Tots, a national project of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, began in 1947 in Los Angeles.
