Chairman Diaz and Vice Chairman Gilbert to be sworn in

MIAMI – Commissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Oliver G. Gilbert III will be sworn in as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at Hard Rock Stadium, 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens, FL 33056.

On Nov. 19, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously elected Commissioners Diaz and Gilbert as their next Chairman and Vice Chairman. Commissioner Diaz has served on the Commission since 2002 and also served as Commission Vice Chairman from 2009-10. Commissioner Gilbert served as Mayor of Miami Gardens for eight years before joining the County Commission in November 2020.

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, seats will be reserved for elected officials, department directors and invited guests of the Chairman and Vice Chairman. Social distancing and face masks will be required.
