Chairman Diaz to join Wounded Warriors on Jan. 8

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz, joined by District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee and Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria Nardi, will participate in the Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride® Miami 2021 by joining 20 wounded warriors on Friday, Jan. 8 for lunch at the Military Museum, followed by a day of fun at Zoo Miami.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001, including the annual Soldier Ride® adaptive cycling event for injured veterans, many of whom rely on prosthetic limbs. Due to COVID-19, this year’s ride will be converted into a Skills Development Camp in which wounded veterans will learn to improve their cycling skills.

Chairman Diaz will lunch with participants at 12:15 p.m. at the Military Museum, 12460 SW 152nd St., Miami, FL 33177, and then join them again at 1:30 p.m. at Zoo Miami, 12400 SW 152nd St., Miami, FL 33177.
