Annual Pepe’s Summer Blast "kicks off" with soccer field opening, Miami FC players

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
More than 500 people attended Vice-Chairman Jose "Pepe" Diaz's annual "Pepe's Summer Blast" on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at North Trail Park.  Families joined the commissioner for a fun day of free food, games, bounce houses, water slides, live entertainment, surprises, special guests, and more!

"This is one of my favorite events to do every year," said Commissioner Diaz. "The families who come out always have a great time. It's a wonderful way to kick off the beginning of summer."

"Pepe's Summer Blast" also marked the dedication of a new soccer field at North Trail Park. Leo Inacio Nunes  and Cristiano "Kaka" Dias of the Miami FC were on hand for the ceremony and to sign autographs for patrons.

In addition to family-friendly activities, attendees learned information about various County services from the commissioner's Mobile Office, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Venom Unit, Miami-Dade Police
Department, Miami-Dade Corrections Unit (which will offer free fingerprinting for kids), Miami-Dade Library Systems,  Miami-Dade Emergency Management & Homeland Security, Miami-Dade Elections Department, and the State Attorney's Office. Guests even went home with a lovable pet thanks to the Animal Services adoption center.
