(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Vice-Chairman Jose "Pepe" Diaz reached out to students in need in his district by donating turkeys to 135 students and their families. On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, students from 20 District 12 schools and their parents lined up at Vice-Chairman Diaz's district office to claim a frozen turkey and bags of non-perishable goods. The commissioner's staff distributed vouchers to the students selected by their schools to be in the most need.
"This year's Thanksgiving distribution was made possible by a group effort of local organizations that have gone above and beyond to ensure a wonderful holiday for these families," said Vice-Chairman Diaz. "Many thanks go to Farm Share, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, Contractors Resource Center, Inc., and Parsons Odebrecht for their generosity."
