Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz brings joy to elderly at his annual holiday luncheon

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
About 1,000 Seniors from District 12 celebrated with Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz at his much-anticipated annual holiday luncheon that was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.  This eventful occasion was filled with Latin soap opera stars, free lunch, dancing, giveaways, and raffle items that included gift baskets, televisions, and microwaves.

"Watching seniors of my district as they laugh and dance during this event reminds me why I look forward to it every year," said Commissioner Diaz. "The celebrities who participate always take time to dance, laugh and talk to the my seniors, bringing them so much holiday joy."

Some of the stars, who donated their time at the event this year included Osvaldo Rios, Roberto Vander, Gabriel Porras, Laura Zapata, Claudia Reyes, Norma Zuniga, Los Fonomenecos Miguel "Miguelito" González and Gilberto Reyes and many others. The hostesses of this year's luncheon were actress Laura Ferretti and Venezuelan presenter Nelson Bustamante. Sponsors for this year's event included the Miami Marlins and Flagler Development.

The event was held at the DoubleTree Hotel and Commissioner Diaz was joined by elected officials from Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Sweetwater, Virginia Gardens, Medley and Doral.
