Miami Children’s pediatric cancer patients receive holiday toys from Santa Jose "Pepe" Diaz

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The holidays just got a little brighter for several pediatric patients at Miami Children's Hospital, who received a special visit from Santa Claus (Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz) on December 18. The commissioner visited the children, many undergoing treatment for cancer, in the hospital's Hematology-Oncology Center and gave them Christmas toys. Eighty toys and various gift cards were also contributed by the Kids and Families Foundation.

During this annual toy distribution, the children enjoy singing, dancing, watching performances, playing games, and spending quality time with their families.  This holiday party takes place in collaboration with Miami Pediatric Hematology Oncology Associates and is made possible by various sponsors and volunteers within the community.
"Spending the holidays in a hospital is never an ideal situation, so my office always tries to bring some cheer to patients at Miami Children's who can't necessarily be home with their families this time of year," said Commissioner Diaz.
