"14 Days of Neighborly Love" brings goodwill to residents for Valentine's Day

Several businesses in District 12 will provide discounted, free goods and services for 14 days

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz (center at podium) announces his “14 Days of Neighborly Love” initiative at Finish Line gas station, which offered a special discounted rate of $2.14 per gallon for a limited time in honor of Valentine’s Day. Also joining the commissioner were Sweetwater Commissioner Manuel Duasso, Sweetwater Commissioner Jose Bergouignan Jr., Marcio Cardoso with BV Oil Company, Councilman from Town of Medley Gerardo Silva Jr., Sweetwater Mayor Manuel M. Marono, Evelyn Garcia, Director of the A.F.E. (Amor Fe y Esperanza) Community Center in Medley and Sweetwater Commissioner Jose Manuel Guerra.

Although Valentine’s Day is still a day away, Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz kicked off the holiday early today by introducing his initiative “14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness.” This project involves businesses and organizations donating their time and services from February 14 to February 27 to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community. The commissioner started off early by partnering with the Finish Line gas station in Sweetwater, pumping gas for residents as the business surprised customers with a special discount of $2.14 per gallon, capped at $20 worth of fuel, for a limited time.

Other businesses in the Medley, Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Virginia Gardens, and Sweetwater will also be participating in the initiative, providing special discounts during the 14 days, or randomly giving goods and services to clients for free.

“I am ecstatic to lead this initiative in our community and I commend all the businesses and residents of District 12 for taking part in the program,” said Commissioner Diaz. “While this initiative is taking place during the month of February, I hope we can continue to focus on helping each other after the fact, and know that performing good deeds for others is not only rewarding, but also reinforces us to be better neighbors to one another.”
