(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Hialeah drivers got some special treatment this weekend as they got their cars washed by none other than Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz. As part of his “14 Days of Neighborly Love” initiative, Commissioner Diaz joined about 30 volunteers from La Roca Firme Youth Group to give away free car washes on Saturday, February 18, 2012. The commissioner and volunteers invited motorists to stop by La Roca Firme Church in Hialeah for the free washes, with about 50 drivers taking advantage of the offer.
Another car wash will be held Saturday, February 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at La Roca Firme, this time with the Coca-Cola Company joining in as a partner in “14 Days of Neighborly Love.” The company will be giving away free beverages along with the free car washes provided by volunteers.
The “14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness” initiative, motivated in part by Valentine’s Day, involves businesses and organizations donating their time and services from February 14 to February 27 to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community. Until February 27, residents can take advantage of several services and goods offered at a discount or for free, such as tax preparation, marriage counseling, car washes, and more.
“This initiative has really taken off and businesses and residents are doing all they can to spread some goodwill around Miami-Dade County,” said Commissioner Diaz. “I’d like to thank La Roca Firme’s Youth Group for doing an outstanding job and Coca-Cola for joining us.”
