Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz visits local senior centers for giveaways as part of "14 Days of Neighborly Love" initiative

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Patrons of two local senior centers received a slew of goodies on Thursday, February 23, 2012 as part of Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz’s “14 Days of Neighborly Love” initiative. Commissioner Diaz personally delivered books, magazines, and freshly-baked goods to both the Mildred & Claude Pepper Senior Center and Victor Wilde Community Center. The reading materials were courtesy of Editorial Unilit and Expolit ’12; the baked goods were donated by the Dunn Family.

The “14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness” initiative, motivated in part by Valentine’s Day, involves businesses and organizations donating their time and services from February 14 to February 27 to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community. Until February 27, residents can take advantage of several services and goods offered at a discount or for free, such as tax preparation, marriage counseling, car washes, and more.

For more information on the initiative, visit or call the commissioner’s office at 305-599-1200.
