(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz joined his colleague Commissioner Javier D. Souto and Miami-Dade Park officials for the dedication of Veterans Way at Tropical Park on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The newly-named roadway within the park connects visitors to the existing Veterans Memorial, honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Established in 1980, the park’s Memorial Stadium holds 6,000 seats and is home to high school football games and the nationally recognized Miami-Dade Track and Field Team. The site was cleaned up and revitalized by volunteers last year.
“As the Veterans Memorial is now more visible at Tropical Park, we invite Park visitors to follow Veterans Way to the site, and to take a moment to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifices of our nation’s courageous heroes,” said Commissioner Diaz, who proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and is currently Miami-Dade County’s Military Liaison.
