(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Concerned about those that have been affected the most by the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz has sponsored a resolution, which passed at today's Board of County Commission meeting that would allow County employees to contribute annual and holiday leave time to the County's Emergency Disaster Relief Fund.
"Emergency declarations have been issued for most of our northern states as a result of this natural disaster" said Commissioner Diaz." I am working with Mayor Carlos J. Gimenez and the administration to determine the best and fastest way to assure relief funds go directly to the most impacted area and to the people. Unfortunately Miami-Dade County knows all too well the hardships people are facing and county employees are eager to help family and friends impacted by Hurricane Sandy."
