"14 Days of Neighborly Love" brings generosity to residents on Valentine's Day |

Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz kicked off his annual initiative “14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness” by providing residents with a significant discount at the gas pump for Valentine’s Day. This initiative involves businesses and organizations providing special discounts, goodies or free services from February 14 to February 27 to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community. At today’s event, Commissioner Diaz was joined by Finish Line owner Anthony Cuevas, Roly Ramirez from Doral Collision Center, and Exclusive Motoring, who provided for a limited time discounted gas at $2.14 per gallon to more than 100 vehicles. Commissioner Diaz and the municipal mayors in his district performed their random act of kindness by pumping gas for customers while Blue Bell provided free Blue Bell Ice cream. Commissioner Diaz was also joined by Florida Power & Light, who is participating in the “14 days of neighborly love” initiative and announced their donation of $14,000 worth of school supplies to 14 Public Schools within District 12. At the event, FPL presented $1,000 worth of School Supplies to Sweetwater Elementary principle Janet Oliver. FPL will continue to disperse the materials throughout the 14 days to each school. “I am very happy to once again lead this initiative in our community,” said Commissioner Diaz. “,I hope this not only inspires people to help each other throughout these 14 days but hopefully throughout the whole year.”
