Commissioner Diaz hosted Free Permitting and Inspection Process workshop

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Over 50 residents and businesses took advantage of the free workshop Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Chairman of the Land Use and Development Committee and committee members held on May 2 at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium.

This free Permitting and Inspection Process workshop provided engineers, developers, contractors, and the public at large with an opportunity to voice concerns and proposed solutions to committee members relating to inefficiencies with the building, permitting and inspection process in Miami Dade County. Due to this workshop, Commissioner Diaz will be presenting legislation to amend the plat approval process for Miami-Dade County, since this was a major concern for residents and businesses in attendance.

“Residents are continuously complaining about the complexity of our permitting and inspection process in Miami-Dade County,” said Commissioner Diaz.  “I wanted to give residents the opportunity to have their questions answered and work together with county departments to find a solution to better serve our residents and businesses.”

The following County departments participated in the workshop: Building & Neighborhood Compliance, Environmental Resource & Management, Planning & Zoning, Water and Sewer, Fire Rescue Inspections, and Public Works & Waste Management.

For more information, please contact Commissioner Diaz’s office at 305-599-1200.
