Commissioner Diaz helps establish new internship program at Animal Services Department

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY – Young people interested in pursuing a career in veterinary science soon will be able to obtain internships at the Miami-Dade County’s Animal Services Department.

The County Commission on Nov. 1 approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz to establish an unpaid internship program at the department within the next 120 days. Bachelors, masters or doctoral degree students from public and private institutions of higher learning will be eligible for the program.

“This internship program will be a win-win for young future veterinarians as well as for the Animal Services Department which will benefit from the interns,” Commissioner Diaz said.
