Commissioner Diaz participates in street dedication to honor Trooper Ambroise

MIAMI-DADE - Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz participated in the Jan. 24 dedication of that portion of the Homestead Extension of the Florida Turnpike/State Road 821 between mile marker 34 and mile marker 36 as “Trooper Patrick Ambroise Memorial Highway.”

Commissioner Diaz sponsored the legislation approving the Florida Legislature’s codesignation of that portion of the Turnpike, which borders on Hialeah Gardens and Medley in District 12.

Trooper Ambroise of the Florida Highway Patrol died on May 15, 2010, when his patrol car was struck from behind while he was stopped on the shoulder of the Florida Turnpike.
