Commissioner Diaz honors former President George H.W. Bush

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz is sponsoring a resolution expressing sympathy and condolences for the Bush family after the passing of former President George H.W. Bush. The resolution will be presented at the Dec. 4 County Commission meeting.

Bush was elected to a single term as president in 1988 after having served eight years as Ronald Reagan’s vice president. Bush led the nation during the First Iraq War, which ended Saddam Hussein’s occupation of Kuwait. The fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union also took place during his presidency.

President Trump has named Dec. 5 a national day of mourning for Bush.
