Commissioner Diaz welcomes widening of NW 25th Street

MIAMI – District 12 residents can look forward to faster commutes on Northwest 25th Street thanks to a project to widen the road from four lanes to six lanes between 87th and 117th avenues.

The Miami-Dade County Commission on Feb. 5 approved awarding a design services contract to Gannett Fleming for the road improvement project, which also calls for a bicycle/pedestrian path, raising the median,  and new sidewalks along the three-mile stretch of road, which connects Doral’s commercial and warehouse areas with Miami International Airport.

“Northwest 25th Street gets very heavy traffic, especially during rush hours, so this road widening project will be of tremendous benefit to our residents,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, who represents District 12.
