Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. joined a literary celebration as book lovers everywhere observed the birthday of renowned children’s author Dr. Seuss on Friday, March 2. Commissioner Bovo took the opportunity to visit James H. Bright Elementary in Hialeah, where he participated in the school’s Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration and Reading Day.
The commissioner read the classic Hunches and Bunches two second grade classes in the library. He even helped students get into the spirit of the celebration by donning the famous red and white striped hat from The Cat in the Hat.
“It’s amazing that Dr. Seuss books I read as a child are still beloved by children today,” said Commissioner Bovo. “That’s the great thing about Dr. Seuss. He not only sparks children’s imaginations, but his stories are oftentimes the foundation children use in order to begin reading.”
Commissioner Bovo has been an advocacy for literacy in his district, often visiting schools and teaching students about the importance reading will have on their future success. For more information, please contact Commissioner Bovo’s office at 305-375-4831.
