Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. met with last year’s recipients of the District 13 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program to see how each business has grown since receiving funding. A reception was held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at BankUnited’s Hialeah branch, hosted by Hialeah Dade Development, Inc.
The Mom and Pop program assists small business owners in helping their business grow. Funding can be used to purchase equipment, supplies, advertising/marketing, inventory, building liability insurance, security systems, professional services, and to make minor renovations. Currently, Commissioner Bovo’s office is accepting applications for 2012’s Mom and Pop program until May 18, 2012. Business owners applying for the grant must have their business located in Miami-Dade’s District 13.
“Small businesses make a huge impact in our community and the Mom and Pop program helps these businesses thrive,” said Commissioner Bovo. “It was an honor to meet the recipients from last year and I look forward to helping more deserving people just like them for this year’s grant application.”
