Hialeah seniors receive assistance in registering for free Golden Passport transit passes

On Monday, June 18, 2012, Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. joined Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez and Miami-Dade Transit officials at the Goodlet Adult Center in Hialeah to help seniors register for Golden Passport EASY cards from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Miami-Dade residents 65 years and over, as well as Social Security beneficiaries, are eligible to ride transit free with a Golden Passport. Seniors interested in registering for a Golden Passport can find more information online at www.miamidade.gov/transit or by calling 786-469-5028.

“The Golden Passport offers a level of freedom not available to many seniors who have a limited income and are unable to drive,” said Commissioner Bovo. “While seniors are always able to contact Transit directly for assistance, it is great to see Transit and the City of Hialeah reach out to the people at Goodlet who may not have even been aware this program existed.”
