Vice Chairman Bovo's statement on violence in Panama by pro-Castro Cubans

(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – “I strongly condemn the violence perpetrated by agents of the Castro regime against pro-democracy demonstrators outside the Cuban Embassy in Panama on April 8. This is the latest example of how the Castro government remains a violently repressive regime that does not respect human rights either on the island or abroad. It’s obvious that this is not the time we should be talking about dropping Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, and I urge the Obama administration to reject any recommendations to do so and to stop moving toward normalizing relations with Cuba until basic human rights are restored to the Cuban people.” -- Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chairman Esteban Bovo Jr.
