Commissioner Bovo helps fund Miami Lakes Adult Education Program
Miami Lakes seniors can continue to enjoy a host of programming that had faced extinction – thanks to a $13,000 check from Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr.
The Miami Lakes Adult Education Program, which coordinates community classes, senior health wellness fairs, community forums, and social events for senior citizens, was at risk of closing its doors when the program lost state funding during the new fiscal year, which runs from Oct. 1 through July 1. Commissioner Bovo presented a check to the Town of Miami Lakes Council to fund the Adult Education Program.
“I feel that this is a critical program for the seniors of Miami Lakes. Our allocation will continue to keep the program operating until the State’s funding is appropriated beginning July 1st. Thank you to our State partners for allocating the necessary funds to sustainably maintain the program,” Commissioner Bovo said.
