Chairman Esteban Bovo, Jr. and the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners welcomes Miami MLS team announcement
MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County on Jan. 29 welcomed the news that Miami will be home to Major League Soccer’s 25th franchise.
County Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo Jr. and several Commissioners were in attendance at a special ceremony at the Adrienne Arsht Center in which MLS Commissioner Don Garber officially awarded David Beckham and his partners a soccer team that will start playing in Miami in 2020.
“It’s official, Miami is now part of the MLS family,” Chairman Bovo said. “We look forward to working with the league, franchise, and the community to bring continued success to Miami-Dade County.”
