Commissioner Bovo to host Pet Adoption Event and Fundraiser at Amelia Earhart Park in conjunction with playground Grand Opening
(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr. will join Miami-Dade Animal Services and Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces to host an “Open Your Heart and Your Home” Pet Adoption and Fundraiser event on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amelia Earhart Park’s Bill Graham Farm Village, 401 E. 65th Street, Hialeah, FL 33013.
Event goers can take advantage of free and reduced-fee pet adoptions and free pet vaccinations. Pet owners also can register in advance for free spay/neuter services by calling 311. In addition, microchips and license tags will be available for purchase. A donation bin will be set up for donations of blankets, leashes and other pet products. Cash, debit/credit card, and check donations also will be accepted at a donation booth. Moneys will be used to enhance the County’s delivery of spay and neuter services, support low-cost adoptions, and prevent the needless killing of sheltered animals.
The event will coincide with the Grand Opening of the park’s newly expanded playground amenities at Tom Sawyer’s Play Island. “I am delighted to see the new and improved Tom Sawyer Play Island Playground,” said Commissioner Bovo. “These new playground facilities were much needed and much deserved. I highly encourage residents to bring their children here for regular visits and experience all that this beautiful park has to offer.”
The event will also feature FREE flu shots available to the community, food, pony rides, a farm animal petting zoo, and a SunPass giveaway.
