Commissioner Bovo to host “Open Your Heart and Your Home” pet adoption event at Amelia Earhart Park
(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr. will be hosting a major pet adoption event this weekend in Hialeah in hopes that all pets find a forever loving home.
Commissioner Bovo will join Miami-Dade Animal Services and Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces to host another “Open Your Heart and Your Home” event on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amelia Earhart Park’s Bill Graham Farm Village, 401 E. 65th Street, Hialeah, FL 33013.
“This is a great opportunity for animal lovers to come out and find a wonderful pet to take home,” Commissioner Bovo said.
In addition to adopting a pet, event goers can take advantage of low-cost vaccinations, microchipping and license tags. Pet owners also can register in advance for free spay/neuter services by calling 311. The event also will feature music, food trucks, pony rides, a farm animal petting zoo and a SunPass giveaway.
A donation bin will be set up for donations of blankets, leashes and other pet products. Check donations also will be accepted at a donation booth. Moneys will be used to enhance the County’s delivery of spay and neuter services, support low-cost adoptions, and prevent the needless killing of sheltered animals.
Free event parking will be available at the park’s east entrance at East 7th Avenue and 65th Street. For more information about adopting an animal or to donate to the County’s Animal Services Trust Fund, visit animals.miamidade.gov.
