Parent Forum and Resource Fair to focus on at-risk youth


MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Community Relations Board (CRB), Miami-Dade County Commissioners Jean Monestime, Sally Heyman and Barbara Jordan, and North Miami Councilman Alix Desulme will host the “It Takes a Village” Parent Forum and Resource Fair on Wednesday, June 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at North Miami Senior High School auditorium, 13110 NE 8th Ave. in North Miami.

The forum will focus on the topic of saving at-risk youth. Representatives from law enforcement, the Miami-Dade County Juvenile Services Department, and the State Attorney’s Office will discuss what parents need to know about the juvenile justice system and how to keep their children away from risky behavior leading to youth violence.

The event also will feature a free food distribution by Farm Share. Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. RSVP to Shirley Plantin at Shirley.Plantin@miamidade.gov or 305-375-1406.
