Welcome to the Department of Solid Waste Management

For more than 50 years, the Department of Solid Waste Management has served the Miami-Dade community. Today, we are the largest government owned and operated waste collection and disposal system in the Southeastern United States. In addition to providing waste collection and recycling services to over 300,000 households in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and nine municipalities, our Department owns and operates the most technologically advanced waste-to-energy facility in the world.
