Discontinuation of Online New/Replacement Bin Orders

    Dear Recycling Customer:

Miami-Dade County is on its way to a new curbside recycling program for residents living in single family homes.

The new program will feature a “Single-Stream” approach to recycling.  Residents will be given a 65-gallon wheeled cart for their recyclables.  Aluminum, glass, plastic and steel cans and bottles as well as newspapers, cereal boxes, magazines and junk mail will all be placed together in the one cart.

Effective April 18, 2008, the online service which allows you to order new or replacement recycling bins will be discontinued.  Over the next few months, the Department of Solid Waste Management will introduce a bigger, better and more convenient curbside recycling program that will allow you to recycle lots of new materials!

As we transition to the new curbside program, orders for new and replacement bins won’t be taken.  But don’t worry!  You can still recycle your glass, aluminum, plastic, steel, plastic-coated containers, newspaper and corrugated cardboard at the curb. Simply place them in brown paper bags, laundry baskets or boxes (as long as they are generally the same size as the bins) on your recycling day, and the County’s curbside contractor will collect them!  It’s that simple!

We’ll begin to post information about the introduction of Miami-Dade’s new curbside recycling program on our website in the coming weeks.  So stay tuned!    And thanks for continuing to recycle.
