Rapid changes in technology mean that there are more and more electronic items being thrown away every day. To keep these items out of the waste stream, the Solid Waste Management Department has a program to collect and recycle used electronic equipment from Miami-Dade residents. Items accepted for recycling include:
- Computer monitors and televisions
- Personal computers, keyboards, hard drives and printers
- VCRs, audio and video equipment
- Communication equipment such as cellular telephones and hand held radios

The H ome Chemical Collection Centers are open every Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Trash and Recycling Centers are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. year round, except for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Independence Day and Christmas Day (as observed by Miami-Dade County).
