The Department will provide the following options to service area residents for collection and recycling of Christmas trees:
Curbside Collection of Christmas Trees
- Service area residents may place Christmas trees at the curbside alongside their EZGO waste cart from Thursday, December 27, 2007 through Friday, January 25, 2008. Trees placed at the curb after January 25, 2008 will not be collected.
- Christmas trees may be picked up from the curb on a day other than your regular garbage collection day.
- As many as possible of the trees collected at curbside will be recycled and converted into Christmas tree chips, which can be used for gardening and landscaping. Free Christmas tree chips will be available to service area residents beginning in February while supply last.
Christmas Trees Drop-off for Recycling
- Service area residents who wish to recycle their Christmas tree can drop off clean, tinsel-free trees from December 26, 2007 through January 31, 2008 at the Department's network of Trash and Recycling Centers and a designated drop-off location at the South Dade Landfill (24000 SW 97 Avenue).
- Trees can be delivered to the drop-off locations daily between 7 am and 5:30 pm.
