2015 Summer Camps

Nature Detectives & Nature Explorers Camp
Children ages 6-8 (Nature Detectives) and children ages 9-14 (Nature Explorers) together with water safety certified naturalist guides will have fun exploring the South Florida environment through a variety of fun and exciting activities in a safe park environment ranging from nature hikes on wooded trails, swimming (guarded pools), field trips to local park preserves and more!

June 8 - Aug. 21
A.D. Barnes Park
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
$115/week, plus a one-time annual registration fee of $12

Camp Manatee
Camp Manatee (ages 6 -14) is a nature-based camp that teaches youth about the wonders of the environment through interactive games, activities and field trips.

June 8 - Aug. 21
Greynolds Park Boathouse
$115/week, plus a one-time annual registration fee of $12

Camp on the Sea
Marine science, South Florida ecology, and aquatic adventures are the focus of this unique camp. Campers (ages 12-17) will explore the coastal waters and off-shore coral reefs through snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding activities. Participants must be able to pass a mandatory swim test. This camp runs the first six weeks of the summer break.

Fishing Camps
Developed in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, these camps are designed for kids (ages 9-15) who love fishing and want to improve their fishing skills. They'll learn about fish biology, safe boating practices and get fishing tips. Camps take place at the various locations listed below will follow a progression from freshwater to saltwater fishing.

Freshwater Fishing Camps:
Amelia Earhart Park Farm Village: June 8 – 19
Larry & Penny Thompson Park Waterside Concession: June 22 - July 3
Tropical Park: July 6 – 24
$145/week for any of the freshwater camps, plus a one-time annual registration fee of $12

$225/week, plus a one-time annual registration fee of $12

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer OpportunitiesYou can get involved by participating in one of the workdays organized by the Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) Program and helping to protect and restore natural areas in Miami-Dade County.

The workdays are fun, hands-on activities throughout all kinds of interesting natural areas. Community hours are available through this volunteer program.
