Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust's mission is to ensure the equitable participation of Blacks in Miami-Dade County's economic growth through advocacy and monitoring of economic conditions and economic development initiatives in Miami-Dade County.

Prosperous neighborhoods are made of citizens that have equal access to the necessities that can assist them with changing their current condition and begin creating a better quality of life.

MDEAT is recruiting new Action Committee Members

MDEAT is seeking a new action committee members to fill vacancies on its Economic Development Action Committee (EDAC), Housing Advocacy Committee (HAC) and Youth Action Committee (YAC).

Ideal candidates are seasoned, strategic thinkers with successful track records in housing, economic development, business development, banking, finance, criminal justice or law. They will have reputations of integrity and community service as well as possess knowledge, skills and expertise relevant to the position for which they are applying.

Third and final HAP Certification Workshop

Do you serve first-time homebuyers in need of down-payment or closing cost assitance? If yes, register no later than Nov. 20, 2017. The workshop is for Licensed Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) and Closing Agents.

The workshop will be Dec. 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the South Dade Regional Library, 2nd Floor Auditorium.

Registration is now open for the HAP Certification for Licensed Mortgage Loan Orignators (MLOs) and Closing Agents

Workshop attendance is required for MLOs and for Closing Agents. RSVP is required as space is limited. Walk-ins will not be permitted. All registered attendees must provide a copy of the printed ticket at the workshop.

Please note: We do not offer companywide lender certifications. This is for individual MLOs. Closing Agents must maintain a HAP certified individual on staff.

To REALTORS: A decision has been made to conduct the HAP Realtor Certification separately from the HAP Lender / MLO and Closing Agent Certification Workshop. Updates for this will be provided in September 2017.

Due to post Hurricane Irma consideration, the HAP Certification Workshop on Thursday, September 21 is postponed. A new date and location for both September 7 and September 21 workshop will be rescheduled. Updates will be posted by the end of this week.

Those attendees currently registered for either the September 7 or the September 21 workshop will be automatically registered for the new dates. Additional information regarding this will be be provided by email to the currently registered attendees.

Request for Proposal for Economic Development Initiatives RFP NO. MDEAT EDI 0206

Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) is seeking an experienced and qualified business, individual and/or a combination thereof to propose initiatives that will assist or enhance economic development in the Black community. MDEAT is seeking proposals through a Request for Proposal. The proposer is encouraged to submit macro level ideas that will stimulate economic development activity in a specific area that may be duplicated throughout the Black community. Additionally the proposer may submit proposals that contribute to the efficient and effective operations of individual businesses in the Black Community.

Responses are due no later than Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. (Local Time) to our office.

Cyber Warrior Diversity Program

Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) promotes job-focused programs to increase Black participation in the cyber security and technology industry by offering cyber security training and certification.

Annual Youth Legal Education Summit 2017

The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) hosted its Annual Youth Legal Education Summit on August 8-9, 2017 at the University of Miami School of Law. The two-day annual youth summit is designed to train high school students, ages 14-18, as youth attorneys, specifically for serving as prosecuting and defense attorneys for Teen Court.

2016 Annual Report Card and Scorecard

The Annual Report Card and Scorecard builds on the analysis conducted and presented by the FIU Metropolitan Center. The report card includes information on factors such as, but not limited to, the unemployment rate, the rates of business ownership, graduation rates, and homeownership rates within Miami-Dade County Black Community.
