Miami-Dade CityDNA, a Neighborhood Demographic Finder
Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) unveiled the Miami-Dade CityDNA on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Miami-Dade Main Library. Dr. Ned Murray, Associate Director, FIU Metropolitan Center presented on CityDNA information and trends that apply to our County. Mary Lee Widener, Founder and Vice Chair, Social Compact Board of Director presented on Social Compact and its applications, as well as, Brett McCarthy, Director of Research, Social Compact who went into the application and showed how it could be used.
Miami-Dade CityDNA is a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) that provides demographic, statistical and visualization data of neighborhoods across Miami-Dade County. This tool generates charts, reports, and comparisons critical to following trends within a neighborhood’s economy, advocating key issues, and learning of potential impacts to governmental policies.
The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust commissioned Social Compact to implement this system in Miami-Dade County in order to create a tool that allows business owners, consultants, academia, public employees, community activists, and others to obtain data such as income, population, and other demographics specific to a particular geographic area.
