If you are interested in making a difference in the life of young people, the Youth Action Committee (YAC) is looking for qualified and committed applicants to fill vacancies. The purpose of the committee is to advise the Trust Board on the board’s strategic direction for developing youth within predominantly Black communities as an approach to reducing crime and help foster economic prosperity.
The committee also supports the mission of MDEAT’s Miami-Dade County Teen Court by advocating and creating opportunities for youth to develop into responsible citizens. The committee hosts workshops, summits, and conferences. In short, YAC responds to the needs of the community, develops public-private partnerships, and collaborates with lead authorities that specialize in youth/teen problems.
If this sounds like something you would like to do for the young people in our community, please fill out the Action Committee Membership Application. The deadline for submission is Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.
About the YAC
Youth Action Committee (YAC) is a holistic approach in providing needed resources and information to underserved communities. YAC's goal is to put in action the Teen Court mission to advocate and create opportunities for youth to develop into responsible citizens.
YAC recruits agencies; colleges and universities; local and national non-profits; Miami-Dade Public Schools and School Board administrators; local, state and federal elected officials; and others with expertise to empower citizens in the areas of Criminal Justice, Education, Economics, Youth Health and Human Services, and Youth Development.
The Committee host workshops, summits, and conferences. YAC invites keynote speakers and special guests who provide information on related Teen issues from local, state, and national perspectives that the community would not normally get a chance to interact with first hand.
YAC responds to the needs of the community, utilizing public public-private sector partnerships, and identifies lead authorities that specialize in Youth/Teen problems.
The Committee meets monthly, the 3rd Thursday of each month.
For meeting dates and times use the County calendar.
