Miami-Dade County's web portal for children, kids.miamidade.gov, has been chosen as one of 19 "eGovernment" category finalists of the 2002 Stockholm Challenge.

Burglar Alarm Citation Form Realizes Incredible Savings
A new Burglar Alarm Citation form has been implemented that utilizes a single page "z fold" pressure sealed process, printed on the laser printer.  In addition, a new on-line program eliminated the need to send the forms by certified mail as well as the filing and storage requirements.  Annual savings to both the Clerk of the Court's Code Enforcement Division and MDPD are estimated at $329,000.

Oracle Licensing Conversion Opens Door for More County Users
In our work toward enterprise licensing and central database administration for various systems, Ivan Rodriguez has succeeded in negotiating a conversion from Named User licenses for Oracle Data Bases, to Central Processor Unit licenses. This will allow more users-perhaps up to double or triple-- to be served at slightly less in cost than what we have spent for far fewer users before. (Named user licenses run about $800 each to purchase, plus maintenance fees each year).  Way to go!

The 2001/02 Quarter 2 Report on miamidade.gov is now posted online:  http://intra.co.miami-dade.fl.us/cio/egov/quarterly_reports.asp  (the link is accessible only within the County's network). Usage of miamidade.gov continues to climb, as do online payments, availability and best of all, customer satisfaction!

Explore miamidade.gov in a Classroom Setting!
A training class on 'Using miamidade.gov' is now being offered to all employees, taught by the charismatic Anthony Lamar!   This course is mandated for all eGov Department employees and soon will be available to all employees as an offering of Miami-Dade University 's Getting to Know Your County Government program.  Registration info will be published soon!
