Elections Headquarters Renamed as Posthumous Honor to Veteran Employee

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
In memory of outstanding public servant, Alicia Acosta-Thatcher, Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz and Mayor Carlos Alvarez are hosting a ceremony to rename the Miami-Dade Elections Building in her honor. The renaming is a result of a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Diaz, to pay tribute to the late Elections employee who “profoundly and indelibly touched the hearts and lives of countless Miami-Dade citizens.”

 

The Elections Building will be renamed the Alicia Acosta-Thatcher Miami-Dade Elections Department Building. Mrs. Acosta-Thatcher contributed to more than 500 Miami-Dade elections over a span of 32 years. The renaming ceremony will be held featuring many of the elected officials that Mrs. Acosta-Thatcher assisted in her post as Elections Operations Administrator.
