Registration Changes

Change of Address Within Miami-Dade County or From Another Florida County

Registered voters within Miami-Dade County can request address changes online. Address changes can also be made by email, telephone or fax as long as you contact the Elections Department directly to make the changes.

Telephone: 305-499-8683 (VOTE)
Fax: 305-499-8371

You must include the following information when making the request:

  • Full Name (First, Middle and Last)
  • New Residence Address
  • New Mailing Address (if different)
  • Date of Birth
  • Telephone (optional)

When changing your address, a Miami-Dade County residence address is required by law. If you provide any kind of mailing service address, P.O. Box, or business address, the change will not be accepted, and may cause a delay in your registration and/or voting process.

Moving to Miami-Dade County?

Moving from one Florida county to another requires you to fill out a new Voter's Registration Application PDF if you do not contact the new county of residence to make the change. For example, if you are moving from Broward County to Miami-Dade County and you contact Broward County to make the change of address, you will be required to fill out a voter registration application. If you contact Miami-Dade County directly, you can use one of the above mentioned methods. View a list of all the Supervisors of Elections offices in every Florida county.

Political party or name change

You can make a request to change your political party and/or name online. This is the quickest and easiest method.

Party changes can also be made by submitting a signed written notice that contains the date of birth and name changes can be made by submitting a signed written notice that contains the date of birth or voter registration number by email, fax, or mail.

A change to a voter's party affiliation must be made 29 days before an election, if the election is for the purpose of nominating a political party nominee.

Mail: PO Box 521550

Signature Updates

It is important to update your signature as it may change throughout the years. You can request a signature update online. Check off the "signature update" box at the top of the application.

If you are unable to sign your name due to a disability, a mark may be used such as an "X." This ensures that any petition or absentee ballot signed by you will match the signature that we have on file provided you continue to use the same mark. In case you decide to vote by absentee ballot, be sure to submit your signature update at least 15 days prior to the election in which you wish to vote.
