Voters Encouraged to Take Advantage of Absentee and Early Voting

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Voters do not have to wait until January 29th to cast a ballot for the Presidential Primary Preference Election. Absentee and Early Voting are both currently available and more convenient than ever. These options allow all voters ample opportunity to exercise their right to vote.

Early Voting began January 14 and continues through Sunday, January 27. Twenty convenient sites are located throughout Miami-Dade County. For site locations and hours of operation, please visit the Elections Department website or call the number at the bottom of this release. Voters should remember to bring a photo ID that contains a signature. It is not mandatory for voters to have their Voter Information Card, however it will facilitate a faster check-in.

The last day to request an Absentee Ballot by mail is tomorrow, January 23rd. Requests must be made in writing and must include the following information:

  • Printed name of voter
  • Current address
  • Address where the ballot is to be mailed (if different than residence address, must state why)
  • Date of birth
  • Date of election(s) for which an absentee ballot is needed
  • Signature of voter
  • Voter registration number (optional)

Send the above information to the Supervisor of Elections, Miami-Dade Elections Department, P.O. Box 521550, Miami, Florida 33152. An original signature is required, therefore -mail or fax requests are not accepted unless the ballot is to be mailed overseas.

Absentee Ballots may also be picked up at the Elections Department Main Office (2700 NW 87th Avenue, Miami, FL. 33172) or the downtown Voter Information Center (Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street, Miami, FL. 33128 1st Floor, West Lobby).

All Absentee Ballots, whether returned by mail or in person, must be received by the Elections Department no later than Election Day, January 29th at 7p.m. to be accepted as valid.

"Whether by Absentee, Early Voting, or on Election Day, the important thing is that all eligible voters get out there and take advantage of their opportunity to vote. The Elections Department has been working diligently to ensure voters have a positive experience during this election – and we are ready to serve," said Supervisor of Elections, Lester Sola.
