(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Early voters continued turning out in greater numbers at the polls despite the South Florida weather. During the first four days of early voting, voter turnout grew: 12,024 on October 20; 13,364 on October 21; 16,900 on October 22; and, 17,897 on October 23. Miami-Dade Elections has welcomed a total of 60,185 early voters so far.
The Elections Department is doing everything possible to accommodate all voters. It took additional measures for shorter, more comfortable wait times. Early voters are reminded to call 3-1-1 or go to www.miamidade.gov/elections for wait times, which are posted hourly throughout the day.
After today, early voting hours will change. Please note the following schedule:
Saturday, October 25, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Sunday, October 26, 1 p.m. – 5. p.m.
Monday, October 27 - Friday, October 31, 2008, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday, November 1, 2008, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Sunday, November 2, 2008, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Voters are encouraged to review the sample ballot and make their decisions before heading to the polls. Sample ballots are available on the Elections web site www.miamidade.gov/elections. Also, voters should bring identification that contains both a photo and a signature.
