Hours are extended at early voting locations

Governor Crist Signs Executive Order Allowing Extension of Hours


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
The hours of operation for early voting locations will be extended from eight hours to 12 hours beginning tomorrow, October 29.  Today, Governor Charlie Crist signed an Executive Order to extend early voting hours across the State of Florida. Voters will be able to cast their ballot from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday which is the last day of the early voting.

"We are very happy with the Governor’s decision to extend early voting hours," said Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola. "We strive to ensure everyone is able to exercise their right to vote in a convenient manner."

As of October 27, Miami-Dade Elections has welcomed 137,117 early voters and looks forward to welcoming more.

Early voters are reminded to call 3-1-1 or go to www.miamidade.gov/elections for wait times, which are posted throughout the day. Voters are encouraged to review the sample ballot and make their decisions before heading to the polls and reminded to bring identification that contains both a photo and a signature.  Sample ballots are available on the Elections web site www.miamidade.gov/elections.
