Miami-Dade Elections Department is ready to welcome voters

Election Day is November 3

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3 and voters in the cities of Hialeah, Homestead, Miami, and Miami Beach are eligible to vote.

"We hope that every voter takes the opportunity to cast their ballot in this election," said Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola. "Local races are equally important as the higher profile elections, so I encourage every voter to get out and vote."

Early Voting came to a close for these cities with 7,042 votes already cast. In addition, 24,905 votes have been cast via absentee ballots. The Elections Department is now prepared for 100 percent voter turnout on Election Day.

Voters who plan to vote on Tuesday should keep these important points in mind:

  • On Election Day, voters must vote at their assigned polling place listed on their voter information card (unlike during Early Voting, when voters can choose any location). Any voter who is unsure of where to vote should contact the Department at 305-499-VOTE (8683).

  • Voters must provide identification that contains both a photo and signature in order to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include driver’s license (or ID card issued by a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles), United States passport, debit or credit card, military or student ID, retirement center or neighborhood association ID or public assistance identification. If the picture identification does not contain a signature, an additional identification with a signature will be required. Voters are also always encouraged to bring their voter information cards issued by the Elections Department to facilitate the process, but the information card is not required in order to vote.

  • Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any voter standing in line at 7 p.m. will be permitted to vote.

  • Any person who believes that he or she is eligible to vote, but who is not deemed eligible by polling place personnel, may always vote a provisional ballot, which will be considered by the Canvassing Board.
