(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- As of 7 a.m., precincts in the cities of Hialeah, Homestead, Miami and Miami Beach are open and ready for voters. All eligible voters are encouraged to vote in their important local election.
Those who plan to vote today should keep these important points in mind:
- Voters must vote at their assigned polling place listed on their voter information card. Any voter who is unsure of where to vote should contact the Elections Department at 305-499-VOTE (8683).
- Voters must provide identification that contains both a photo and signature in order to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include driver's license (or ID card issued by a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles), United States passport, debit or credit card, military or student ID, retirement center or neighborhood association ID or public assistance identification. If the picture identification does not contain a signature, an additional identification with a signature will be required. Voters are also always encouraged to bring their voter information cards issued by the Elections Department to facilitate the process, but the information card is not required in order to vote.
- Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any voter standing in line at 7 p.m. will be permitted to vote.
- Any person who believes that he or she is eligible to vote, but who is not deemed eligible by polling place personnel, may always vote a provisional ballot, which will be considered by the Canvassing Board.
