Miami-Dade Elections Department puts voting equipment to the test tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the November 5, 2013 Special Election

(MIAMI, October 15, 2013) – The Miami-Dade County Elections Department will be conducting a thorough examination of its voting equipment in preparation for the upcoming November 5, 2013 Special Election. As is customary prior to every election, the Department will extensively test its equipment by replicating Election Day conditions.

“This is just one of many measures that are taken during the preparation of an election to ensure that our voting equipment is ready for use,” said Supervisor of Elections Penelope Townsley.

The Department will conduct a “Logic and Accuracy Test” to examine the voting equipment tomorrow, at 10:00 a.m., in the Elections Department Headquarters, located at 2700 NW 87 Avenue, Doral, Florida.  Each step of the voting and tabulation process will be tested. Ballots will be cast according to a predetermined outcome, and then tabulated and reconciled to ensure the votes were accurately captured. The test includes everything from opening the equipment to transmitting and tabulating results.
