Miami-Dade Elections Department puts voting equipment to the test for the August 26, 2014, Primary Election

(MIAMI, August 5, 2014) – The Miami-Dade County Elections Department will conduct a comprehensive examination of its voting equipment for the upcoming August 26, 2014, Primary Election. As is customary prior to every election, the Department will thoroughly test voting equipment before use.

“This is just one of many measures that are taken during the preparation of an election to ensure that voting equipment is ready for use. This examination is the final step before equipment is deployed to Early Voting and Election Day voting locations,” said Supervisor of Elections Penelope Townsley.

The Department will conduct the “Logic and Accuracy Test” tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at the Elections Department Headquarters, located at 2700 NW 87 Avenue, in Doral, Florida.  Each step of the voting and tabulation process will be tested. Ballots will be cast according to a predetermined outcome, and then tabulated and reconciled to ensure the votes were accurately captured.
