Tomorrow is Election Day
Important reminders for Absentee/Election Day voters
(Miami, August 25, 2014) – The Miami-Dade County Elections Department is “Election Ready.” Poll workers have been trained, equipment has been tested, and polling places have been outfitted. All 812 precincts will be open tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. awaiting voters.
Voters who have not yet voted should remember the following before heading to the polls tomorrow:
- All registered voters in Miami-Dade County are eligible to vote in this election.
- Every voter should go to their assigned precinct on Election Day, which can be found on their Voter Information Card, by going to the Elections Department website, or by calling 3-1-1.
- Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Voters must bring identification that contains a photo and their signature. Acceptable forms of ID can be found on the Elections Department website or by calling 3-1-1. If the voter does not have ID available, they will be asked to vote a provisional ballot. While the Voter Information Card is not required to vote, it can help expedite the check-in process, so bringing it is always encouraged.
- To further expedite the voting process, every elector is encouraged to download their customized ballot from the Elections website before heading to the polls.
- If you have requested an absentee ballot, but have not returned it, you may still vote at your precinct. Please remember to bring your unvoted absentee ballot with you and give it to a poll worker.
Those voters who requested an Absentee Ballot and have not yet returned it to our office should return it in person no later than 7:00 p.m. to the Elections Department Headquarters (2700 NW 87th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33172) or the Satellite Office at the Stephen P. Clark Center (111 NW 1st Street, Miami, Florida 33128).
What Is New
Miami-Dade County engaged in a targeted reprecincting process, yielding operational efficiencies with minimal voter impact. Beginning with this election, six percent of Miami-Dade County voters will be assigned to a new Election Day voting location, and 25 new polling places have been introduced. A comprehensive reprecincting plan will be in effect in 2015.
Voters are encouraged to call 3-1-1 or visit http://www.iamelectionready.org/. Voters may track their absentee ballot, view their customized sample ballot, confirm their voting location on Election Day, and much more. Voters may also call 305-499-VOTE (8683). For TTY, call 305-499-8480.
Also, State law now limits Election Day delivery of an absentee ballot to a voter or a voter's immediate family member unless the voter executes affidavit as to an emergency that precludes the voter from going to their assigned precinct.
