Child Care Financial Assistance - Refugee Program

The Child Care Financial Assistance - Refugee Program is for Refugees of all nationalities Cuban/Haitian Entrants, including Parolees and Asylum Applicants, Asylees of all nationalities, Amerasians (of American and Asian  decent/: fathered by an American, and especially an American serviceman in Asia,Certified Victims of Trafficking, Lawful permanent residents who are adjusted from prior refugee, entrant or asylee status to enhance child care for refugees in need of financial assistance.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)

DARE is a 10 week curriculum taught by certified police officers to 5th grade students, throughout Miami-Dade County, for the purpose of teaching positive alternatives to substance abuse and gang violence.  The new curriculum, updated in 2012, also includes bullying, peer pressure and good decision making skills.

FATHERS Project

The FATHERS Project provides a comprehensive family effort to fully engage male parents in the lives of their children, while increasing their earning potential through employment. The program provides individual assessment, job preparation and placement, as well as provides opportunities for remediation, education and vocational training.

Fit2Play Out-of-School Program

Fully-supervised programming after school with activities focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, and developing children appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts.  The program operates Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the school year, including school vacation breaks.

Jump Start

Jump Start is a “storytime kit program to go” for all licensed preschool and kindergarten childcare centers.  The kits contain all the tools to present fun, high quality storytimes on a variety of themes.  Each kit includes books, fingerplays, a flannelboard story, a puppet and a music cassette tape or CD.

Miami-Dade Police Athletic League (PAL)

PAL programs provide a wholesome environment with structured recreational and educational activities, positive peer influence, and constructive interaction with police officers.  PAL is a self-funded program, and only achieves it’s success through donations and fundraisers.  PAL currently has 2 officers, one assigned to Martin Luther King Park and one assigned to Gould's Elementary School, that coordinate a multitude of activities.  PAL is primarily run as an afterschool program during the school year and partners with Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces during the summer.

Program for Children with Disabilities

After School and seasonal camp programs for children with disabilities. Programs provide enriching experiences including sports, swimming, arts and crafts and field trips.  After School Program 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (throughout the school year, including school vacation breaks.) Summer Camp 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Rental Assistance

Emergency Food and Shelter Assistance (EFSA) is utilized to assist individuals and families in need of emergency assistance with issues regarding payment of utility bills, rent and mortgage payments and also provides temporary shelter and food.
